Impressions at Luncheon
The power of connection.
The power of connection.
We just came home after luncheon with our neighbors.
We expected to stay for an hour and we ended up chatting for 3 hours. I didn't realize how much I've missed the face to face interaction! ... The exchange of ideas, jumping from one topic to another, weaving their experience into my understanding of the world.
One lady was from Venezuela and, like us, migrated to France. We exchanged impressions and experiences of what it's like to settle in a different country. We exchanged stories of our home countries. We shared the things we appreciate and things we find surprising here.
Time flew by quickly today, and I realize that my soul has been yearning for more of these connections.
As humans, we really do exist in the context of our network of interactions. And we see who we are by glimpses of reflections from those around us. Without which, it feels like we're floating in a space of nothingness, unable to evaluate our true value.
The last year, our Exit Journey has been focused on setting up the structures we needed to survive: finding a permanent place to live, building our credit, identification and paperwork, finding a source of income... but I realize that it is as important to also set the human support network for ourselves.
My husband and I have met this need by being each other's support. But eventually, we really do need to make friends and connections here.
That's why Exit Support is one of the pillars of The Exit Blueprint. Just another reminder to follow this structure.
In your own life, who are the people who make up your network of support? How uplifted do you feel after you meet with them? How often do you replenish your resources by seeing them?
Would you commit with me to building a strong support network for yourself? It's like picking the choicest jewels, decide who you will let in, and who you will make time for.
Until next time!
