Lessons from Pain
Defining our comfort zone.
Defining our comfort zone.
I recently listened to a teacher who talked about pain. He shared that we all experience pain in life. And that pain gets expressed as negative emotions like nervousness, anxiety, fear, or anger.
It made me see our life journey as an unending battle to avoid pain... and a quest to find joy.
We build walls to keep out the pain ("I'll never do that again!"), not realizing that joy could be on the other side of that wall. And eventually, these walls define our comfort zone. Our place of safety and security.
Consider the following examples:
Your classmates laugh at your idea... "I'll never share my opinion again! No one will understand anyway."
Your parents forget to pick you up... "I'll never depend on anyone else. It's better to be independent."
Your boyfriend breaks your heart... "It's better to keep some distance. Giving 100% to a relationship is a recipe for disaster."
These beliefs have steered us through the ocean of life to our success. They've kept us clear of shipwrecks...but also from adventure.
In my practice, I help my clients energetically release their pain so they can chart a new path and direction. The choice is clear:
1. Where do you want to go? What do you want to do?
2. What pain do you feel when you think of going there?
3. Can you find a way to let it go?
Today, I invite you to ask yourself these questions and start taking control of your life.
With love,
Michelle
