We do not create miracles. But we can position ourselves to receive them.
I learned this the year before we made the move to France. And I took it to heart.
I started meditating every day to learn to focus better. I practiced gratitude daily to stay in a positive mindset. I continually asked what it means to lead with an open heart and to live from the soul.
It was the start of a journey to learn a whole new way of life.
You see, I grew up with the philosophy of hard work and self sufficiency. I always did my homework. I reviewed my test answers 3x before handing them in. I always over prepared and gave myself plenty of time.
And it paid off: I was top of our class, I had a successful career, we were financially well off… At the cost of my health, my free time, my peace of mind.
External hustle does get results…At a cost.
So I was willing to try doing the internal work this time. And the result?
We sold our house for over asking in a buyer’s market.
We got half price plane tickets to France.
Our investments gained $80k the month we sold, and the stock market crashed a week after.
We found a long term rental home when other expats have to switch Airbnb monthly.
We bought an apartment that met all the criteria we desired, even the unspoken ones.
Instead of finding a job after we arrived, I’m still living a vacation lifestyle.
And I was just a beginner then!!!
